Emenike Promises Eagles $50,000 If Nigeria Qualifies For 2014 World Cup
Spartak Moscow striker Emmanuel Emenike has promised to give the Super Eagles $50,000 if Nigeria qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Golden Boot winner, who is out of next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Kenya and Namibia due to a fresh injury, believes the money will boost the team.
“I promise the whole team $50,000 if they qualify for Brazil 2014,” the Eagles star told MTNFootball.com on Friday.
“I’m doing this from the bottom of my heart to motivate the team. I am not doing this to intimidate anybody but just to show my total support for the team because I grew up supporting the Super Eagles.
“I don’t want my teammates to miss me because there are other players who can score goals for the team.
“Before I decided to play for Nigeria, even before I dreamt of becoming a professional footballer, which I am today by God’s grace, I have been a passionate fan of the team.
“I never knew I would play for Nigeria. This is a reward for what I have done in Europe and it is time I supported my country even more.”
