Three suspected fraudsters specialising in defrauding unsuspecting oil dealers in Lagos have been paraded by the Lagos State Police Command. The suspects, Clement Aladay Enenche, Lawrence Audu Oduh and Mike Edache Enenche were arrested by the police after a long trail, having being in their wanted list since 2012. SHAH ALAM: Two security guards have been jailed for causing the death of a Nigerian who allegedly cheated them. The High Court here sentenced T. Kumar, 29, to seven years in jail for causing the death of 27-year-old student Nwabudike Emmanuel Chukwma, while V. Ganesan, 29, was sentenced to one year in jail for causing hurt to the deceased. They were initially charged with murder but pleaded guilty to reduced charges after their defence sent a representation to the Attorney-General's Chambers. Justice Noor Azian Shaari said nobody had the right to take another person's life despite the other person's wrongdoing.

Israeli and Syrian forces have exchanged fire across the ceasefire line in the occupied Golan Heights. Israel returned fire after one of its military vehicles was hit by shots from Syria, Israel's defence forces say. Media reports say no-one was hurt. Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board is to scrap the Paper Pencil Test in 2015. The JAMB Registrar/Chief Executive, Prof. ’Dibu Ojerinde, stated this in an interview with our correspondent on Saturday, after supervising the maiden Computer Based Testing for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. Ojerinde, who said he was happy with the outcome of the CBT, added that other forms of examination would be scrapped by 2015. He said, “We are thinking of 2015. Eket (Akwa Ibom) - The price of gari has recorded more than 50 per cent increase in Eket area of Akwa Ibom, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports. Other items that also went up in the area, survey revealed, were the prices of other foodstuffs, including rice and fish. The survey showed that a cup of gari, which sold at N30 between February and April, now sells at N70, while the cost of six cups of the commodity has risen from N100 to N200 at various markets in Eket and its environ. Similarly, the current price of a bag of the staple food item is N14,000 as against N8,500 sold between February and April.

19 MAY 2013 Up to 60 people were injured when a car drove into a parade in a small Virginia mountain town. Witnesses immediately ran over to lift up the 1997 Cadillac to help free a woman trapped underneath it. Three of those hurt were airlifted to hospital by helicopter.
